The Park

Back in 2012 Dillon and I went on our first date. Now depending on who you ask our first date was either at church or the park. I say church, and he says park.
So on our 2nd or 1st date, depending on how you look at it haha, we went to Maymont park. He actually wouldn't tell me where we were going, but eventually I figured it out. It was probably the hottest day of the summer. It was horrible. We finally found a bench to sit and talk for a while. He had packed a picnic but unfortunately neither of us could stand the heat. So we left and headed towards to The Virginia Historical Society. Then we headed to Carytown for a slice of pizza at Mary Angela's. After lunch we headed towards Short Pump and went in a bunch of stores.
But the most memorable part of the day was going to Maymont, in spite of or maybe because of the heat haha. No really it was because we just sat and talked about, well everything. I remember he even started talking about getting married one day and having kids. Him, not me haha. He was talking in the abstract of course, no marriage proposals that day. I was really surprised by how honest and talkative he was.
What was your first date with your significant other?

  1. That's a cute story! I love that he was the one talking about marriage and kids :)
On my first date with my fiance we went out for ice cream, although I didn't really know it was a date at the time.

  2. I don't remember my first "date" but the first time I met my hubby was pretty memorable. He knew I'd been married before and had a daughter. So he was coming over to my apartment to see why my computer wasn't working. He arrived early to find a 4 year old running around naked after her bath and me barefoot & no makeup trying to catch her. Must have made a good impression because he said he knew then he was going to marry me!

  3. How cute to read of your first date; too bad though it was so hot!

Our first date was going to a recording studio where hubby would be doing some work on an album for a friend and then going out to breakfast afterwards. He had overslept and didn't hear his alarm; he was 1-1/2 hours late to pick me up and was late of course for the recording work. I'm glad I didn't give up on him for being late :)

  4. Awww how sweet! Young love (sigh). I was already 38 when I met my husband (he's my second marriage) and we met online. Our first real date was to Macaroni Grill...he did a magic trick that impressed the waiter, who set up a puzzle for him using toothpicks. He said if my husband could solve it, our meal would be free. He solved it!

  5. Sweet! The historical society sounds like a lot of fun too.

Our first date was at an Italian restaurant, Renato's. We met online, so it was also our first in person meeting. I thought Nick had left me; he went to the restroom and was gone forever. I was just getting ready to leave when he came back. It turned out that someone had been in there installing new paper towel holders and he started talking to them and lost track of time. :-)

  6. My sister and brother in law asked me to accompany them and my BIL's recently divorced brother for a night out (mostly to get him out of the house). We hit it off...dated for six years and have been married for going on 19 years now. :)

I bet you knew on the first date you had found someone special. ♥♥
