I think that's huge. Marriage is being honest enough to be yourself and strong enough to know the other half can do the same thing and it doesn't hurt your marriage. To grow in marriage means being your own person as much as being a couple. If you only do what makes the other person happy it's one sided, and shallow and it will soon become stale. Marriage means choosing the other person still even on day you don't like them very much. We'll celebrate our 43rd anniversary in June. Good luck to you in your marriage. Would love you to get your looms out again, make and donate somethiing for Bridge and Beyond.

Sandy at Bridge and BeyondSandyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13141251905909903805noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8630132134007055932.post-58204910553597198512015-04-15T11:02:50.146-04:002015-04-15T11:02:50.146-04:00I think it means choosing them day after day to be...I think it means choosing them day after day to be your "person". He's always there for me, always has my back, and he knows me unlike anybody else. And vice versa. Great post!! :)Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02676053446408642303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8630132134007055932.post-32422156245405350272015-04-15T09:55:22.327-04:002015-04-15T09:55:22.327-04:00I'm not sure being honest about only the thing...I'm not sure being honest about only the things that matter is possible. To me a sound marriage is built on unshakable, unswerving, unalterable trust. Without it the foundation is shifting sand. I would have a really hard time trusting anything my spouse said if I caught him being anything but honest with me...but then I am a black and white kinda gal.

As for what marriage means to me, it is knowing I'd rather be with him than anyone else, and knowing he feels the same way. It's being willing to grow and change even when it isn't comfortable, and doing it together. It means saying yes to both of our wants and needs, even if that means a bit of compromise. It's about getting old and gray together, and still holding hands in public. It's having my best friend beside me through happy and sad times, through thick and thin, and in sickness and health. It's still getting a hitch in my breath when I see him coming toward me--after 36 years together he still makes me twitterpated! :)
tmorneryswifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13702378853361498700noreply@blogger.com
